Holistic Valentine's Day Ideas...that don't suck!

Ah, Valentine's Day!

For those of you who celebrate this 'day of love' I have a few ideas you can enjoy that still have your holistic well-being in mind. And for those of you who don't, you can just do these things whenever the hell you feel like it.

Whether you're single like I was for most of my twenties, in a situationship (I'm not a fan, you deserve more...big sis vibes, I know), or have been with your significant other for a while, there's nothing quite like enjoying a day where you get to celebrate love in all its romantic forms. I love the notion that we need to romanticize our lives more, so why not use this day as a catalyst to do that more often?

But, back to the reason I'm here! This year I thought I'd give you a little inspiration to try incorporating a holistic wellness twist into your Valentine's Day plans. You keen to give it a go?

Here are some ideas for a Holistic Vday experience:

  • Yoga class together - It's one of my favorite things to do in the whole world, which can make it very special to share with the person you love. Starting the day with a yoga class can set a positive tone and increase mindfulness and connection. The physical and mental benefits of yoga can help you both feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

  • Go on a Nature Walk - We need to reconnect with Momma Nature, and what better way than taking a walk between mountains through a park or along the beach with your love? Going for a walk in nature can be calming and provide a sense of peace and relaxation. The fresh air, scenic views, and exercise can boost mood and overall well-being.

  • Have a Mocktail Party - Mocktails are the way to go, especially with Vday being on a Tuesday am I right? Grab a few alcohol-free ingredients and create a signature cocktail, bring fancy decorations, or try to make your favorite cocktail as an alcohol-free version. The options are endless! Alcohol-free cocktails are a great alternative to traditional alcoholic drinks, offering a multitude of health benefits without sacrificing taste. By eliminating alcohol, alcohol-free cocktails can reduce the risk of liver damage, improve cardiovascular health, and promote better sleep, making them a smart choice for anyone looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Check out this Sparkling Lime & Mule Mocktail recipe I made with Almost Zero & Secco Infusions for some inspiration!

  • Meditation Session - A meditation session can be a calming and grounding way to spend quality time together. Focusing on the present moment can increase mindfulness, reduce stress, and foster a deeper connection with your partner. It's a beautifully relaxing and grounding experience, to make it more fun plan the meditation session outside and incorporate all of your senses by adding incense, a meditation pillow, a fluffy blanket, comfy clothes, an eye mask, etc.

  • Cooking or Baking Class - Knowing how to make your own food is foundational for a healthy body and mind, plus I think it's so sexy when someone makes a meal from scratch for you, right? Learning to cook healthy and delicious meals together can be both fun and fulfilling. It can improve communication and teamwork while promoting healthy eating habits and nourishing the body. And you get to eat when you're done, that's learning, fun and a meal, yes please!

  • A Mindfulness Coloring Session - When was the last time you grabbed a box of colored pencils or crayons and just made art? Coloring can be a relaxing and meditative activity. Doing it together can be a fun and mindful way to bond and focus on the present moment. It's a simple and so effective way to get your inner child to get to know the one you love.

  • A Relaxing Bath - Water is therapy, especially for your feminine energy. Taking a relaxing bath together can be a luxurious and intimate way to unwind. The warm water, Epsom salt, and essential oils can soothe the mind and body, reduce stress and improve mood.

  • A Sound Bath - Sound therapy is a powerful holistic healing tool that I have been using for years to help balance the energy in my body. A sound bath can be a unique and immersive experience that promotes relaxation and mindfulness. The combination of sound vibrations and meditation can enhance well-being, reduce stress, and deepen your connection.

  • Embrace the Cold - Celebrate Vday in a unique and memorable way by taking a cold shower or plunge together. This might seem a bit unconventional but it's a powerful way to get your body buzzing and offers numerous physical and mental benefits, such as improved circulation, reduced stress, and enhanced bonding, making it a fun and revitalizing way to celebrate love and affection.

* As always, consult your medical professional before trying anything new that could possibly not work with your body and needs, bio-individuality is always key.

I'd love to know what you will be getting up to this Valentine's Day if you're celebrating it so be sure to drop a comment below or find me on social media and tag me in your Vday posts.

And remember, whether you're in a relationship or not, you're worthy of showing yourself love in a more amplified way too! Don't wait for love to come to you, give it to yourself first!
